On our final day in Berlin we got up early and went back to the city centre. Having negotiated the U Banh pretty well we hopped from train to train all over the city. First we went to the Berlin Wall memorial site, having known the history behind it, it was crazy to see what it would have looked like, and to hear the stories of those who lost their lives. Not to mention that the proximity to our lives in which it took place was just mind blowing, it was an incredibly chilling place to visit. Later we went across town with a quick stop at check point Charlie, and finally off to the Holocaust memorial, which again was very surreal. Peter Eisenman has offered a few interpretations behind his design, but the 2711 concrete blocks seemed to speak volumes as we stood looking across, another fascinating place to see.
