We’re going away next week and that means one thing – I’ve got to pack! Some people will be experts at packing by now, others not so much. But one thing’s for sure, we’ve all been through these seven emotional stages of packing at some point in our lives. Queue the packing panic!
1. Feeling prepared
You start off the packing process strong, making a list of everything you need to take with you so you don’t forget anything! At this point you’re feeling pretty relaxed about the whole thing.
2. Feeling productive
Then there’s the burst of productivity before you begin. It’s time to wash everything you need, buy the essentials and charge up all your tech. As far as you’re conerned you’re nailing this packing business!
3. Feeling ready
No you’re ready to get packing! You find your bag out and begin gathering all your belongings (which usually end up in one big pile on the bed next to the bag).
4. Feeling confused
Now you’ve got everything you need – how are you going to fit it in?! The next hour is spent playing some sort of weird game of packing Tetris as you become increasingly aware you’re over-packing.
5. Feeling overwhelmed
By this point in the packing process you’re probably feeling pretty stressed, tired and to be honest, bored by the whole thing! Your bedroom is a mess and your bag is still empty. But don’t give up yet – you can do this!
6. Feeling smart
Eventually you accept that you don’t need to take 20 outfits for a weekend away and packing becomes much easier. You’re almost done and at this point you’re feeling pretty pleased with yourself!
7. Feeling like a winner
And relax…You did it! You’re finally packed and ready to go and you’re feeling like a winner.
